Danny & Cortney Carmona

Sergeant Jesus Carmona (94F Computer Detection System Repairer) & Sergeant Cortney Carmona (56M Religious Affairs Specialist) Non-Commissioned Officers

The Carmona family is a proud dual military household with deep roots in Watseka and Ashkum, Illinois. Danny (29) and Cortney (27) met in 2014 when Cortney was a senior in high school and Danny was a college freshman. Their shared commitment to service led them to enlist in the U.S. Army together in May 2015, marry in December of the same year, and embark on their military journey, stationed first in Hawaii, then Germany, and now at Fort Campbell. Over the past nine years, they’ve been blessed with four children—Aria, Aurora, Avery, and Adela—and give all glory to God for keeping them together through each challenge and transition.

Cortney serves as a 56M Religious Affairs Specialist (formerly Chaplain’s Assistant), and Danny is a 94F Computer Detection System Repairer, working on night vision goggles and computer systems. Both are Non-Commissioned Officers dedicated to their roles in the Army.

In addition to their service, the Carmonas are passionate about giving back to their military community. Danny is also a soccer coach, having coached three seasons at Fort Campbell for the Pre-K and Kindergarten teams. Cortney has served as the Assistant Coordinator for the Fort Campbell Mothering Wildflowers, a Christian group for military mothers. As a family, they also volunteer with the AWANA program, where Danny runs games, and Cortney works with younger children. Together, they are committed to fostering relationships and supporting fellow military families.

After relocating from Germany, the Carmonas faced challenges adjusting to U.S. culture and navigating financial shifts. Their journey was made easier thanks to the support of Blue Star Families, where they found vital resources such as the car seat safety program and access to the Cohen Clinic. Grateful for the community they found, the Carmonas continue to serve and engage in local outreach, reflecting their commitment to both their faith and their family.
