Functional Medicine Specialist

Dr. Maristany is passionate about functional and precision medicine and has trained in all core modules of functional medicine through the Institute of Functional medicine(IFM), vetted through the Cleveland clinic. Being 1 of approximately 1200 worldwide physicians with this coveted certification, he has advanced training in hormones, immune disease(autoimmune and immune dysregulation), environmental detox, advanced nutrient analysis, advanced personalized genomic interpretation, and all of this to help find the root cause of disease.

 

During the past 9 years, Dr. Maristany has had the privilege of shadowing and working with several very prominent providers of functional medicine and Anti-aging medicine, including Dr. David Perlmutter, Dr. David Sinclair, Dr. Richard Horowitz, Dr. Chadwick Prodromos, Dr. Gustavo Moviglia, Dr. Neil Nathan, Dr. Mary K Ross, Dr. Dale Bredeson, Dr. Bob Sheeler, Dr. Pamela Hughes, Dr. Eboni Cornish, Dr Sharon Hausman-Cohen and Dr. Brian Cornblatt, just to name a few.

 

For the last 4 years, Dr. Maristany has been the lead physician and co-medical director of the Naples Center for Functional Medicine, formally owned by Dr Pamela Hughes and prior to this, Dr. David Perlmutter. Taking on the lion share of patients from Dr. David Perlmutters original patients, he managed to nearly double the volume of patients in this practice and had a > 1 year waitlist at one point, having to stop accepting new patients about 2 years into his practice.

 

Before his tenure as a functional medicine provider, Dr. Maristany, as a classically trained board-certified internal medicine physician, also served as an academic hospitalist for 10 years, specializing in caring for complex patients in a hospital setting while collaborating with several specialized consultants. During this time, he also served as a clinical assistant professor of internal medicine for Mercer University School of Medicine at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Ga.

 

Dr. Maristany completed his residency in internal medicine at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia, where he was honored as Outstanding Resident of the Year and Outstanding Teacher of Medical Students. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree, with honors, from Ross University School of Medicine in Edison, New Jersey, and his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Miami with honors, where he also worked as a research assistant for the pharmacology department.
